This quick start guide allows you to learn the basics of the UBIK.com service. The step-by-step sections will walk you through the process of creating your very own mobile website.

To use our service you need to create a new UBIK.com account for yourself. If you already have one, just sign in and start working on your mobile projects.

If you've used UBIK.com or Mobilizer before, then you will already have a UBIK account. Use your username and password to sign in.

Mobilizer Welcome
  1. Click Sign In | Sign Up Now to create a new account for yourself. You will need to read and accept Terms of Use, and enter your name, username, password and email address.

    Note: Newly created accounts are inactive. A confirmation message will be sent to the email address you provided. Please read the email and follow the instructions to activate your account.
  2. If you already have an account, click Sign In on the UBIK.com Welcome page, and enter your username and password.

You can build your new mobile website from scratch using the site templates provided. It's a quick and simple process. Just choose from a selection of pre-defined templates and create your new mobile website in a flash. Our easy-to-use editing tools allow you to edit text, rearrange navigation menus, manage images, apply new color schemes, and much more.

Create
  1. Go to the UBIK.com Welcome page and click Create Your Mobile Website. If you have already signed in, go to the dashboard and click Create New Site.
  2. Pick a template from the list and click Create Now. You may also click View More Templates to preview all available templates. Pick the one you like and click Create Site.
  3. You'll see the details of the selected template. Click Cancel to choose a different one.
  4. Each template consists of several pages. Select those you would like to add to your new website.
    Note: The Home Page is mandatory.
  5. Enter the name of your new mobile project
  6. UBIK.com will provide you with a URL address. Click Customize Site Address to specify a different name for your website. If you own a domain name, you may also use this. Learn more...

    Tip: No special or upper-case characters should be used for the name of a website. Nor should names start or end with '-'.

  7. Click Create to complete. You'll be taken to the editor, where you can use our intuitive editing tools to add all kinds of content to your site. Once you are happy with your site you can publish it to complete the process. Learn more...

Editing a mobile website  Learn more...

The editor allows you to edit almost any element of your mobile website. It doesn't matter whether it's reordering or deleting entire sections, adding new content, or changing existing text and images; Our easy-to-use editing tools allow you to achieve your goal in a flash. You can even preview your changes in real-time.

The editor window is divided into three sections. On the left hand side is the structure of your website. Pick a page to edit and preview its contents. The middle section contains the web page editor. Each page is divided into content specific sections, and this is how it is displayed. On the right hand side is your web page as it will appear on a typical mobile phone.

The page editor works in two modes. In 'Simple' mode you may edit the content of existing sections. In 'Customize' mode you may create new sections and remove or rearrange existing ones. Click Simple/Customize to switch between the two modes.

  1. In 'Simple' mode you can change the content of existing sections. Click within a section, and it opens in the associated editor. Follow the related links to learn more about available editors.

  2. In addition, you may perform several page specific actions:
    • Click Add Page to add a new page to your mobile website. Learn more...
    • Click Rename Page to change a page name
    • Click Delete Page to remove a selected page from your mobile website. The Home Page cannot be deleted.
  3. There are also site specific actions:
    • Click Rename Site to change the name of a site
    • Click Delete Site to remove a selected website
    • Click Change Theme to modify the colors of a site. Learn more...

  4. The 'Customize' mode allows you to create new sections, and rearrange or delete existing ones.
    • To rearrange sections, click the title bar of a section, then use the mouse to drag and drop it into a new position.
    • Click the Trash can icon to delete a section from a page.
    • You can add a new section to the page being edited. Use the mouse to drag and drop the section icon from the toolbar into its new position on the page.
  5. Use Undo and Redo to undo or restore your changes
  6. Click Revert to return to the published version of the current page

Publishing a mobile website  Learn more...

Once you are happy with your mobile project you can publish it at ubik.net. You may also use a custom domain name.

  1. Go to the editor or dashboard and click Publish This Site
  2. You may modify the URL address of your website when publishing it for the first time. If you own a domain name, you may use it too. Learn more...

    Tip: No special and no upper-case characters should be used for the name of a website. Starting or ending with '-' is illegal too.

  3. Pick the Announce option to post an update about your newly published site to social network services. Currently only Facebook is supported. Learn more...
  4. UBIK.com can generate a site map file containing information about the structure of your mobile project. This helps search engines to properly index your website. If you choose this option, you'll be provided with a link to the site map file when the publish process is completed. You can use this to register your mobile website with search engines. Refer to search engine documentation for further information.
  5. Tags, like music, news or sport, help to classify your site, making it easy to find. Click Add Tags to tag your mobile website.
  6. Click Publish Site to complete the process
  7. When the publish process is complete, you'll see a confirmation message containing the publish URL address. You can view your newly published site by entering this URL on your mobile phone.
